What a gas!

On Tuesday it was Robbie's best friend Adam's birthday.  We have a lot of March birthdays around here..anyhow Robbie had to work but Adam, his parents, his wife, Kim, and a few of our other friends went to the local bar and grill to eat some wings and play trivia. Sounds awesome right?  We ordered our food, ate and 8 o clock came around.  It was time to start trivia but there weren't many people wanting to play yet so the trivia host guy was waiting to see if anyone else would show up to play.  Around 8:20pm or so, all these important manager looking folks rushed out of the back and started propping open doors to the outside.  "What in the world?" we all thought aloud. Our waitress came over and explained that somebody had vandalized a gas pipe outside in the back of the building and it was leaking.  Firemen walked through, drunk folks around us cursed loudly at the pandemonium. People got scolded for smoking, but did it anyhow. Nobody was allowed to leave, in case cranking cars in the parking lot set off an explosion.  We cut our cookie cake in the lovely gas smell surrounding us.  Needless to say, no trivia was played..which is a shame, I have only done it once but I had loved it and looked forward to this since the last time we'd been.  We had won second place.  I wasn't very good at the trivia questions but I could name most of the bands they played while they waited for answers, which got an extra point each round.  I know my 70s through early 2000s music.  I was disappointed for Adam's birthday bash but it was a real gas.

Despite that streak of bad luck that I am pretty sure was my fault somehow, everything else is going normally.  I got up the motivation to clean the house yesterday and that's way more motivation than I am used to having.  We're having some people over for a low country boil tonight and some other shenanigans may ensue.  I've been wanting to play some rock band lately (I'm always the singer, I couldn't ever have the guts to try karaoke but I've always loved singing on rock band. Weird.) so hopefully we can get some of that action going.  My parents are in town showing their house for rent to someone, I'm wishing them luck that this nice lady will take it..they have a lot of stress living in Ellijay and paying for their home down here too.  They'll be coming to visit us later today but they are refusing to stay for dinner.  I think they feel like they are wearing out their welcome but I miss them tons..I hope we can go up to visit them soon but Robbie's work schedule has been hectic and unpredictable lately.  Soon..

Wagon Wheel Pizzas and Ichabod

Saturday was my dear husband's glorious day of birth..haha and we had a pretty awesome night out for it.  One of his friends had rented a van that could have held about twice as many people than it was holding that night..we of course called it the "party bus."  Our first stop was "Big Pie in the Sky Pizzeria"...if anyone watches the Man vs. Food show you may have seen this place on the Atlanta episode.  Its a small restaurant in a strip mall and definitely could have used more room, when we first got there, there were tons of people standing around waiting for a table..and it was seat yourself so everyone was vulturing over the people finishing eating haha so two of our party members went and sat down at a table with a family finishing their bucket o beer so we'd have somewhere to sit our decent sized group.  We had ordered TWO of the thirty inch carnivore pizzas..and I, being the only one of the group that doesn't care so much for bacon and sausage (don't attack, i do love it with breakfast in small quantities..especially dipped in maple syrup..just not on pizzas..) ordered two slices of feta and pineapple pizza. They didn't actually do the "carnivore challenge" (two people eating one of the thirty inch pizzas loaded with tons of meat..one pizza is about 11 lbs..in one hour and no barfing) on weekends because it's so busy there, but they made and sold them.. so up came two of those huge wagon wheel sized pizzas and my two slices that were bigger than my head.  Surprisingly the group only had less than two slices left over of the carnivores and i had about half of a slice left of mine.  MAN we were full. Now Robbie really wants to try the carnivore challenge. Haha
Next we went to a liquor store Robbie and I had found called "total Wine and More" that we wanted to show our friends.  It had..well of course tons of different wines, as well as many aisles of beers we'd never seen or heard of and some we'd tried in the Bahamas on our honeymoon and were excited to see again..and found a schnapps we'd been looking for and couldn't find elsewhere called "Creme de noyaux" I think its spelled. Anyhow, we all had a fun time in there for about an hour..then headed off to Dave and Busters. Wow, that place is crowded on Saturdays.  Half the machines were out of tickets..but it was still a good time. I think he enjoyed his birthday pretty well.
The next day I wanted to celebrate with just the two of us. We went to Douglasville and went to Garden Ridge to see if they had any new oriental looking decor or our themed dining room we've been slowly adding stuff to..its hard to find that sort of thing around here usually, just has to be at the right place and the right time.  We ended up stumbling into one of those birds again..you know, like the ones I posted a picture of sometime last month that I loved for some reason I'm still not sure of..but I still loved it and there was only one left..so Robbie picked it up and said.. "sigh..one left, it was meant for you" and handed it over.  I said "But you hate it!"  He says "Yes..but you love it so its okay."  LOL so we ended up buying it.  We miraculously found a good place to put it in our living room..it matched our wall color somewhat..I mean it looks a bit out of place, we have no other bird like things in the house but I smile when I look at it and I named him "Ichabod Reginald Crane." Well, he looks like a Crane so you get most of it but Reginald just seemed to add character.  My best friend said something was wrong with me, but my mom said we all have our tastes..and Lenore the cat already tried to paw at its beak from the bakers rack shelf we put her food on. I suppose it will be a nice conversation piece. Lmao. Anyhow, after Garden Ridge, Robbie and I went to Outback and got huge slabs of still bleeding prime rib, our favorite meal there. Of course blooming onion as well.  I need to eat salad for the next month.
