My husband and I decided not to celebrate our past two Valentines Days (and we've had 3 together so far). Our first one, Valentines Day 2009, he brought me beautiful pink tiger lillies (My favorite) before he had to go to work and some chocolates from a tasty chocolate maker down the road from his work called Shokolad when he got off work that night. I was sick with something or another, and he told me my stuff was more a get well gift than Valentines, haha. He also told me he loved me..I had no idea how he figured that out, we hadn't even been dating for two weeks yet. But hey, I had a good idea of what it felt like to love and a somewhat idea of what it was like to be loved already and I knew I loved him. Guess we weren't wrong. Anyhow, after seeing that Christmas comes December 25th, my birthday 8 days later, our anniversary of getting together early February, and his birthday early March..we didn't much feel like squeezing in Valentines day in 2010. After all, it was a Hallmark Holiday anyhow.
This year, we also decided to keep going with the no Valentines tradition. I don't need flowers and candy one day of the year..he does nice things and is an amazing husband every day of the year. He's always thoughtful and thinking of fun things to do..and I appreciate it. No, we don't need a holiday to tell us we're in love. We know that just fine ourselves, thanks.
